My Wishlist: Zombie Edition 4

Kind of a hodge podge today, including video games and books.

1) I Saw Zombies Eating Santa Claus: A Breathers Christmas Carol by S.G. Browne

I had no idea Breathers was getting a sequel! Plus it's Christmas-y. The only other Christmas zombie book I know of is The Stupidest Angel by Christopher Moore. I will definitely be devouring this one. It comes out October 31.

2) ZomiU



A super gory zombie game for the new Wii? Shocking! Whenever I get the new system, I am so all over this game. I like that the new system will have more games appealing to adults than in years past.

3) Plants vs. Zombies 2

A new Plants vs. Zombies game is on the horizon! I love the original, which you can play on any platform imaginable, but I've already done it and the zen garden is just ok. It's set to come out next Spring and here is the accompanying message with the press release:

"Spring is crullest curlie ungood time, and plantz grow dull roots. So, we are meating you for brainz at yore house. No worry to skedule schedlue plan... we're freee anytime. We'll find you." 

If, like me, you can't wait for this new game, you can go their new store and buy the most adorable toys from PvZ or catch up by playing the game on Facebook, or the iPod and any other device.

4) Walking Dead Season 3

Season 3 is almost here!! This is one of my favorite of the comic book series and it's going to be fun seeing it unfold onscreen and seeing what changes are made. I am so excited for Michonne, the Governor, and the return of Merle Dixon. Check it out starting October 14 on AMC.

Here are more zombie movies that I can't wait to see!

1) Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

I really love Pride and Prejudice and especially enjoy it when embellished upon by Seth Grahame-Smith. It was actually the very first review I ever posted on my blog 3 years ago. So I would love to see this on the big screen. Unfortunately, no information is available about it. I heard about a couple of actresses had signed on at one time or another to play Lizzie Bennet, but I haven't heard anything in a while. Hopefully this won't just languor in limbo forever.

2) Cockneys vs. Zombies

I saw the red band trailer (embedded below) on io9 and it seems super fun and gory. Zombies invade England and the people of East End are prepared with what seems like a large arsenal. These people gleefully mow down zombies in double decker buses and with automatic weapons. The old people in this situation are particularly hilarious, making jabs at each other in the midst of zombie mayhem. It came out in August in Ireland, but no word yet on a US release.



3) Zombieland 2

The first Zombieland was the most heart warming zombie film I had ever seen. I would love to see what comes next for Tallahassee, Wichita, Columbus, and Little Rock. There's no information available about this one either and it's rumored that there may be a TV show rather than a film sequel, which would be awesome.  So I guess we'll just keep a lookout!

4) Pontypool Changes

I just watched and reviewed Pontypool the other day and then found out that a sequel is in the works. I hope it sheds light on the exterior events and provides a little more detail on how the disease started. No word on a cast or release date, but the existence of a poster sounds promising.

My Wishlist: Zombie Edition

So many zombie books coming out soon! Here are some that I can't wait to read.

1) Flesh and Bone by Jonathan Maberry, to release on 9/11/12

I just finished Dust and Decay (review to come soon) and I am anxious to see where Jonathan Maberry will take the story. Benny and his friends are searching for the jet plane they saw in the first book and encounter such dangers as death cults, wild animals, and faster and smarter zombies. I am practically jumping up and down with excitement for this one.

2) Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick, to release on 9/25/12

I read Ashes last year and loved it. I've heard this installment goes more into horror territory, which I am happy about, and will possibly be even more dark than its predecessor. Alex becomes disillusioned about her world and fights against the adults who try to use her, the other survivors that don't trust her, and the Changed that will eat her.

3) Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter, to release on 9/25/12

I haven't heard a lot about this one, but it references Alice in Wonderland and has zombies. Sold for me. Alice will become a zombie fighting machine in order to avenge her family, but she must trust Cole Holland, super bad boy with secrets. The bad boy part sounds like there is much potential for romantic lameness. Also, the cover is a little too romantic for the subject matter, but the same is true for Lia Habel's Dearly series, which are super awesome amazing. So looking forward to reading this even with some misgivings.

4) The Inexplicables by Cherie Priest, to release on 11/5/12

Any book from Cherie Priest's Boneshaker universe is a must read for me. This one is about an orphan named Wreck who deals the sap, produced from the Blight gas that turns people into zombies. He is pretty sure he's being haunted by Zeke Wilkes and goes over the wall into Seattle because of his guilt. He encounters the Inexplicables, mutated, non-zombie monsters. The premise sounds very promising and i can't get enough of Cherie Priest's writing.

More zombie books I salivate over!!

1) Sadie Walker is Stranded by Madeleine Roux

Goodreads synopsis:

Sadie Walker fights for survival as the dead close in...In the months since The Outbreak, Seattle has become a walled citadel - the Infected are kept at bay but the city is rife with kidnappings, religious cults and black-market dealings. I loved Allison Walker is Trapped, so I can't wait for the follow-up. I'm not sure if any of the characters from the first one will appear, but I'm hoping for at least small appearances. I'm also curious to see if there is a similar frame story that was present in the first. This comes out 1/31/2012!

2) Blackout by Mira Grant

No official synopsis or cover is released yet, but I need this book now! Deadline is a magnificent book and the ending is completely shocking. It made me sad that I read it soon after it came out so I have to wait so long for the last book! This series is excellent and really delves into the science of zombies while keeping up a great plot with political intrigue and realistic characters. This one comes out 6/7/2012.

3) Dust and Decay by Jonathan Maberry

I just read Rot and Ruin and I can't wait to get my hands on this sequel! I've heard nothing but good things about it and the cover is completely awesome. I think I'll be shedding a few tears over this one too, so I'll get the tissue box ready.

2) Autumn: The City by David Moody

I really liked the slow burning first installment in the series and I hope the second is even better.

The military aspect seems especially interesting.

3) Rebirth by Sophie Littlefield

I just read the first book, Aftertime, and I loved it! The fresh new take on zombies and the flawed, strong female protagonist made for a great zombie read.

I'm not wild about the possibility of a love triangle, but the rest shows great potential.

Here are some drool-worthy zombie novels that are either upcoming or already out, but I don't have them yet.

1) Eat Slay Love by Jesse Petersen

The third book of the Living with the Dead series by Jesse Peteresen. The adventures of David and Sarah continue as they head to the mythical Midwest Wall! Flip this Zombie was a good book, so I hope the series continues its upward trajectory.

2) This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers

It's a new YA zombie novel where 6 students are trapped out their high school. Of course the school is surrounded by zombies. Sloane Price is kind of happy about these new developments and is eager for their defenses to fall. Since their holed up together, she gets each person's perspective on their hope and why they want to live. As time goes by, their opinions and motivations change and they begin to turn on each other instead of uniting against the common foe: zombies. This sounds like a new concept that I haven't read before and I can't wait until it comes out in June 2012.

3) The Dragon Factory by Jonathan Maberry

This is the second of the Joe Ledger, the first of which was excellent and one of the best zombie books I have read. Joe Ledger continues to work with the Department of Military Science to save the world against evil foes. There aren't many books that take the view of the government in zombie novels and Jonathan Maberry captures that view very well. More mythical creatures are in this installment, including more zombies, and I can't wait to read it!

4) Undeadly by Michele Vail

There's no official synopsis released for this YA zombie novel, but, according to Truly Bookish, is about a 16 year old reaper and zombies. I assume adventures and conflicts will ensue at some point. I'm sold. It's out February 28, 2012.

My Wishlist: YA Fantasy

Here are some awesome books that I really, really can't wait for! Some are already out and some are upcoming releases.

1) Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Summary from Amazon:

"Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't."

I know I've already read and reviewed this book, but I would really love to have a finished copy. Mainly because the cover is more awesome than the ARC cover that I have; I'd like to see if anything changed from the ARC to the finished copy; and I want to monetarily support authors that I enjoy so they will be able to continue writing.

2) Slice of Cherry by Dia Reeves

Summary from Amazon:

A while ago, I read Bleeding Violet and I absolutely loved it. It was a very dark book for being YA and I was incredibly impressed. Slice of Cherry isn't a direct sequel, but it takes place in the same twisted town of Portero, Texas. This time, homicidal sisters Fancy and Kit are the main characters seeking to find a world where they can kill and not get caught. Doesn't that sound awesome? They kind of remind me of Ginger and Brigitte from Ginger Snaps, which is one of my favorite movies.

3) Red Glove by Holly Black

Very, very short summary from Amazon.

"The cons get twistier and the stakes get higher in Red Glove, the sequel to White Cat."

One of my favorite books of last year was White Cat by Holly Black. She created this unique world that is fantastical, but gritty and realistic. It was easily one of the best fantasy books I've read in general. I seriously can't wait for this book, even if I am underwhelmed by the cover. It's set to come out in April.

4) Boyfriend from Hell by E. Van Lowe

Summary from E's blog.

"...Boyfriend From Hell, is about a boyfriend from hell--literally. It's a YA paranormal like Never Slow Dance With A Zombie, but I've cut back on the comedy a bit in this one. It's the story of Megan Barnett, the fifteen year-old daughter of a 39 year-old single mom, Suze. When Suze decides it's time she had a man in her life, Megan is not happy. With good reason:

E. Van Lowe posted about his upcoming book on his blog just a few days ago. I read Never Slow Dance with a Zombie and I really loved it. This one sounds intriguing, plus E will be bringing his readers along the journey to publication with this novel, including a contest to choose the cover art. I'm so excited! Follow E's blog for upcoming developments on his book. It's set to come out September 2011.

My Wishlist for Halloween!

I am constantly adding books to this list, but here are some titles that I want AND are Halloween related.

1) Z by Michael Thomas Ford

This book sounds really interesting. I always like the merging of a gaming world and the real world. The only problem I might have with this is if you set fire to a zombie, you now have a human torch coming after you that will probably die after it gives you a fiery death hug. I would like to see you the novel addresses this problem.

2) The Dark and Hollow Places by Carrie Ryan (to be released 3/22/11)

synopsis from Amazon:

"Annah knows she has a twin sister, but she forgot her long ago. Back when they went to play in the Forest of Hands and Teeth, she and Elias lost her, and after that there was no going back to the village. I loved the first two books in the series and I can't wait for the third one! The second ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I'm super eager to get my hands on it. Yay zombies!

3) The Devouring #3: Fearscape by Simon Holt

synopsis from Amazon:

"The Vours: evil, demonic beings that inhabit human bodies on Sorry Night, the darkest hours of the Winter Solstice.

It's been a year since Reggie first discovered the Vours, and the Winter Solstice is approaching once again. The first in this series is one of my all time favorite YA horror books because it brought real horror, unlike most YA books. The second one was ok, but I'm hoping the third will surpass it. I hope it brings more suspense and crazy nightmarish visions. Both of the reviews on Amazon are positively glowing, so I am optimistic that Fearscape won't disappoint.
